| Class Descriptions
Gentle - A combination of traditional Hatha yoga alignments and modifications of poses accesible to everybody. Moderate - These classes are designed for students who have had at least 6 mos. of Beginner or Gentle level yoga classes. We move beyond basic yogic breathwork (pranayama). There is longer holding of yoga postures (asanas). Postures may be linked together into a flow (example: sun salutation). There is more instruction about use of yoga props (yoga ties, blankets, bolsters, blocks). Moderate - Vigorous - A wide range of Hatha yoga poses for continuing students to inspire fullest potential of breath and alignment. Invigorating and challenging instuction provided for senior students. Vigorous Level - These classes are appropriate for students who have had a regular practice at the moderate level for at least 6 mos. There is instruction of advanced breathwork involving breath retention, vinyasa or flow of postures. Upper body strengthening postures are emphasized (10-30 pushup positions or inversions per class). Tai Chi for Daily Living - Join us as we explore a series of simple and powerful tai chi inspired movement/awareness exercises that integrate body, mind, and gravity. Students of all ability levels will learn to coordinate the body’s natural designs for movement in a way that cultivates a constant state of relaxation, focus and balance, while at the same time allowing for unmatched physical, mental, and emotional confidence. From the deep relaxation of a moving meditation to the explosive power of wave energy, Tai Chi For Daily Living offers a creative approach to the development of personal power, performance, and well-being. The movements are low-impact which makes it perfect for people of all ages and ability levels. Flexible Body and Mind - Enhance and maintain your body’s natural range of motion and sense of well-being with our comprehensive routine for stretching and meditation. All ability levels are welcome. Your body, your pace Meditation/Discussion Group - This is our weekly meditation/discussion group for non-mystical enlightenment. We meditate in three simple phases: Effortless Breathing, Full Body Awareness, and Non-Mystical Enlightenment in order to achieve a deep level of both internal and external coordination. After our meditation practice we often discuss our positive thoughts, philosophies, and experiences. This is a unique and powerful practice that is non-religious and non-political. Everyone is welcome. Belly Dance - is a form of dance that is as old as yoga. The dance involves sensuous movements of the hips and abdomen that can tone the midsection while having fun. Come explore this ancient form of expressive movement.
